WE'RE IN IT FOR GOOD.

Blue Grass Community Foundation is the region's go-to source for giving and engagement. The Community Foundation is a public charity that helps individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits accomplish their philanthropic goals by helping them establish charitable funds and endowments. Grants from these funds help our donors connect their passions to the power of philanthropy.

In 2007, thanks to a grant from the Knight Foundation, we established a new focus on community leadership and engagement. We partner with the community to identify projects that will have lasting value and provide the leadership to accomplish them. Through federal, state and local grants and generous contributions from the community, close to $20 million has been allocated to date.

East End Fund

The revitalization of the historic East End has brought a new vibrancy to Lexington. Thanks to community support, the East End boasts handsome new housing, the William Wells Brown Elementary School and Community Center and the restoration of the Lyric Theatre. And soon, an innovative park – the Isaac Murphy Memorial Art Garden. The park pays tribute to the legacy of local resident Isaac Murphy, who was a champion jockey, three-time winner of the Kentucky Derby and the first individual inducted into the National Jockey Hall of Fame. The East End Fund supports revitalization projects, such as neighborhood beautification, signage, identification of historical sites and housing rehabilitation.
