Mission Statement

Mission Statement: Promote and Grow Soccer in Kentucky. 

Vision Statement: Any child who wants to play soccer has the opportunity in a safe and positive Environment.  
Background Statement Founded in 1979 by John Gompper of Burlington, KY, Kentucky Youth Soccer was create to unite all youth soccer programs through the Commonwealth by affiliation and self – government to enhance youth development through state programs. Kentucky Youth Soccer offers programs for all ages and abilities.

Kentucky Youth Soccer is a Kentucky non-profit, 501 (c) (3) Tax Exempt Corporation devoted to promoting youth soccer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Kentucky Youth Soccer represents over 40,000 youth players, 6,000 active coaches, and thousands of volunteers through its network of over 83 local member associations across the state of Kentucky. Its leadership is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors who represent all parts of the state and the organization currently has a professional staff of 5 employees working out of the State Office in Lexington.
Membership in Kentucky Youth Soccer also brings with it membership in the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and US Youth Soccer. US Youth Soccer develops and promotes youth soccer in all 50 states and currently has over 3,000,000 youth soccer players. USSF is the governing body of soccer in the United States, as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Committee that develops soccer at all levels, youth and adult, amateur and professional.
Impact Statement

Goals Accomplished:

- Full review and editing of the current organization bylaws.
- Established and currently working off of a strategic plan.
- Developed a new event for youth players, Bownet Futsal Cup. Event took place in December 2015.
- Enhanced the Kentucky Youth Soccer ODP program by offering an international trip experience.

Future goals:

- Continue to better our coach development & outreach programs for all coaching levels.
- Work with referee association to attract and retain referees.
- Increase fundraising efforts to enhance our scholarship program.
- Established a risk management policy from the state level to complete background checks for all coaches, admin, referees and volunteers.  This will go into effect this year.  This was previously done at a club level.
- Formation of a Player Safety Initiative task force

Description The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national program to identify and develop youth players to represent their State, Region, and country in soccer competitions. ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.
