Statements
Mission Statement It is our mission to implement sustainable programs that invest in the youth of Kentucky. We will focus on identifying and developing individual strengths and skills. We will provide opportunities for students to put their strengths and skills into practice, be introduced to local leaders, and be exposed to the world beyond our state lines.
Background Statement The KY L.E.A.D. Team is comprised of Educators, Counselors, Social Workers, Medical Professionals, Marketing Professionals, Business Managers, Event Coordinators, Human Resource Professionals, and Entrepreneurs. The KY L.E.A.D. Team has collectively invested over 100 years in youth leadership development. We are strongly dedicated to building and maintaining community relationships that advance our youth and our state. We are committed to the development of youth and their families and believe that our programming will better equip them to advance our schools, cities, state and country.
Impact Statement Kentucky Youth Leadership has been in existence since 1983. Until 2014 it hosted a nationwide youth leadership program annually at Transylvania University.  An average of 200 sophomore students per year experienced four days of intense networking and leadership training.  In the past year we have produced a quality seminar, evaluated it's value to our state in relation to feedback we were receiving, returned it to it's parent organization and went back to the drawing board to design a program that best serves our Kentucky students. We wanted to  meeting them where they are, partner with parents and educators and provide opportunities for their advancement in global citizenship.  Our goal for this year is to enroll the first class of Launch Leadership and begin fundraising to take them on their first journey abroad. We hope to raise enough funds to provide any student who wants to travel with the opportunity. 80% of every dollar we receive will go directly to student trips and leadership programs. During our stateside programming we will focus on key skills such as interviewing, etiquette, financial literacy and more. It is our goal and our hearts desire to equip Kentucky students for a higher point of entrance in careers and colleges.
Needs Statement
1. Finances for student sponsorships - We have opportunities that range form $75 - $5000. Every single penny counts! We utilize 20% of each donation for supplies and activities. The balance goes directly to student scholarships.
2. Volunteers for student mentoring
3. LOCATION! We need a place to teach the classes on Saturday mornings that is either free or very low cost. The more money we spend to rent a space the fewer students we can include.
CEO/Executive Director Statement There are at least 107 languages spoken in the Fayette County School District alone. Many of these English learning students are second generation immigrants. As such, they have not had the opportunity to be raised with our cultural norms. Local colleges are reporting that there is a lack of relational skills, basic etiquette knowledge, fiscal responsibility, community involvement and more. It is our desire to design a program that targets these areas allowing ALL Kentucky students to excel and advance globally. We strongly believe that all students should also have the opportunity to learn about our global society through hands on experience.  These opportunities have long been reserved for students whose families could support them fiscally. It is our hope that through the generosity of our community we will be able to open these experiences to students without finances being an obstacle.
Board Chair Statement Kentucky Youth Leadership has hosted an international leadership program since 1983. In the fall of 2014 our board of directors unanimously voted to return the program to it's parent organization. It was and is the board's desire to implement and support programming that is designed specifically to meet the needs of Kentucky's youth. Per our affiliation agreement with the previous organization all remaining funds and supplies were returned to them leaving us at ground zero to begin this new endeavor.

Impact Questions
GoalsHelpWhat is the organization aiming to accomplish? This is the organization's ultimate goal for intended impact. Our overall goal is to provide basic essential skills training to Kentucky Youth. We are currently focused on Fayette and the surrounding counties. Our goal is to be teaching this curriculum state wide within 5 years. Quantifiable evidence would be measured by a growth in the number of participants participating as well as the number of outlets that exist throughout our state. We will also be tracking our students to see how many enter the workforce directly or seek higher education. Ultimately we would like to see all students electing some form of post secondary education. The Lumina Foundation is focused on increasing the proportion of Americans with degrees, certificates and other high-quality credentials to 60 percent by 2025. They are closely tracking the trends in each state utilizing Gallup Polls. We will monitor their findings and use them as a measuring stick for progress and success as well.
StrategiesHelpWhat are the organization's strategies for its stated long-term goals? We are seeking to reach students through every avenue available to us. We are contacting organizations that are already established throughout the state and asking them to partner with us. In instances where a school may be unable to support the program on their own we are turning to the local governing body and asking them to host the programming. It is our strong desire to not become a silo organization but rather a resource for those who are already on the ground and working in the communities.

Program Long term Success Ky is one of 16 states with a strong high education attainment goal. It addresses the critical need to close gaps in attainment for underrepresented students, such as minority students, low income students & working adults. According to the 2013 Census 32.9% of the state's 2.3 million working-age adults (25-64) hold a 2-4 year college degree. KYLead will strive to help the state reach and exceed the current national rate of 40% by creating smarter pathways for rising students. Increased public awareness of the need to improve individual education levels is necessary to prepare students, their communities, and our state for national and global advancement.
Program Success Monitored By Participants will be tracked through our Alumni programming "Dare to..." Continued contact with them will allow for future tracking via face to face interactions as well as survey data collection. Participants will self report: community and global involvement hours, college enrollment / completion, job procurement, and commendations bestowed.
Examples of Program Success Launch Leadership will accept it's inaugural class fall 2015. Statistics on this program's success will be forthcoming. The Lumina Foundation/Gallup Poll is currently tracking higher education enrollment, persistence and completion levels nationwide. We will monitor KY's statistics as a means of tracking our program's success in increasing our state's attainment rates.
