Statements
Mission Statement Exhilarating Inc. is a 501 C-3 nonprofit organization that provides a safe, structured and holistic environment within our programs, which educate, empower and promote social and environmental development. Our goal is for youth and their families to become confident, compassionate and progressive leaders within the community.
Background Statement Exhilarating Inc is a new Non-Profit Organization that was formally known at the Gainesway Community Empowerment Center Volunteer Board. We do a lot of behind the scenes work to assist other organizations. We have been helping others for about fifteen years. We have done many programs in the community. We partnered with Master P to host a basketball / stop youth violence workshop; we partnered with Community Action Council, SWAG, Imani Baptist Church, Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, Kentucky River Foothills - Friends of Children and many more organizations.
Impact Statement
AGAPE Program: Many children have died at the hands of their fathers due to fathers not being educated on nurturing skills. Many fathers don't know how to stop a baby from crying and this can lead to them getting very angry. We have created a program for young fathers that teaches fathers nurturing skills and connects them to resources available to fathers in the community. Through this program we assist fathers in getting employment, resources, education, housing and other services. More than anything we equip the fathers with information needed to help with child development. We do an evidence based AAPI pre/post assessment and utilize portions for the nurturing parenting program. We have a 99% attendance in this program. the cost to implement the program is about $3,000 per 6-week session.

A Mother's Dream Program: We a very dependent on donors for this program. Through this program we do a motivational luncheon for single mothers who do so much over the year to take care of their children. Many times the mothers neglect their own needs. We have over the past year had thirty mothers adopted. During the month of January the mothers are asked to supply a list of items they would like to have for Christmas. The donor takes the list and purchases what ever item he or she pleases and during the luncheon the mothers are presented with gifts. Each mother has a story. This is the one time a year that we know these mothers are being pampered. This year we had a luncheon and 9 days later one of the mothers died from Lupus.  This program cost an estimate of  $2,000.00 excluding the gifts. this covers venue, food, decorations, guest speaker, door prizes ...etc. We are also able to connect the mothers to local resources.
Needs Statement
We need new baby items, food and tickets for fun events for our AGAPE Program which is for young fathers.
We need donors who will adopt a mother for our A Mother's Dream Program or donate funds to purchase gifts for the mothers
We need event tickets for our variety of youth programs
We need an office space that is free of charge for at least one year.

Comments
CEO Comments This organization has been around for years under a different name. We are now just starting to operate under the new name and a new vision.
Description A program designed to help young fathers (14 - 26 years old) understand the complex nature of child development and the important role that parents play in the healthy development of their children. The participants focus on nurturing skills, child development, cost involved in raising a child, care seat and crib safety, child support and parental rights and the fathers are introduced to the "RealCare" Baby and participate in an extended care simulation experience. We use the evidence based nurturing parenting program and administer the AAPI - pre/post assessment. All fathers receive a car seat, pack and play crib, baby supplies, certificate and a nurturing parenting handbook.
Budget 3000.00
Category Youth Development, General/Other Youth Leadership
Population Served Children and Youth (0 - 19 years), Adults
Program Short Term Success To empower the participants to recognize their self worth; to become more self sufficient and to utilize more resources in the community. Through participating in this program our goal is for 75% of the fathers to be more involved in the lives of their children. We want 100% of the father to recognize the important role a father has in their child's development. We want 10% of the fathers to learn how to nurture their children.
Program Long term Success We are empowering youth and adults and assisting them in recognizing their self worth. They become independent, self-sufficient, employed and inspired to be more family oriented. Through the classes and hands on activities we want 100% of the fathers to recognize the role a father plays in the healthy development of a child. We want 75% of the fathers to be active in their children's lives. We have 100% of the fathers to be educated on nurturing skills. We want 75% off our fathers to be employed or getting a higher education. We want 0% of the child to die at the hands of a father.
Program Success Monitored By We will monitor the fathers for a year. We will know this program is working when father self-report their involvement in their children's lives. When none of our fathers are incarcerated due to child support. When our father are employed or getting a higher education. And we really know we are successful when none of the children of are participants die at the hands of an angry or substance abusing father.
Examples of Program Success We had had two AGAPE sessions in both six-week sessions the father's attendance was 99%. Out of two sessions we had one guy miss once and it was for an appointment he could not get out of. All the participants volunteer to attend the program on their own. We have had participants who have had better success in child support court due to their participation in the program. We have participants who have become comfortable in handling a new born due to his participation in the program. We have participants who have been connected to resources and jobs due to their participation in the program. These are just a few of the positive outcomes.

Program Comments
CEO Comments The challenges to this program is getting more young fathers to participate. This is a population that is under served but also a population that does not actively get involved. Many young fathers at this age are on the streets involved in criminal activities; gang involved; incarcerated or abusing drugs. So when I see young men wanting to get educated on fatherhood I get very excited. This is one of my favorite programs.
