We currently have volunteer opportunities in Medical, Dental, Administrative, Prayer and Patient Advocate positions.
Medical Volunteers: Use your medical expertise (Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Assistants, etc.) to serve the community by volunteering to provide quality health care in a primary care setting to our patients.
Dental Volunteers: Dentists, Hygienists and Dental Assistants all work together in our dental facility to provide cleanings, fillings and extractions to our patients.
Spiritual Care Volunteers: If you are relational and love to encourage others, we need you! Volunteers in this area will have the opportunity to build relationships with our patients through prayer, conversation and encouragement. This can take place through a conversation in the waiting room, driving a patient to an appointment, or offering prayer or encouragement to a patient who is hurting.
Administrative Volunteers: If you are gifted in administration and clerical skills, help us greet and register patients upon their arrival and contact patients to make appointments.
Patient Advocate Volunteers: Work with patients connecting them with necessary services for which they might qualify and making referrals to local community agencies.
To volunteer, please complete an application on our website: www.refugeclinic.org/volunteers
Refuge Clinic operates with a relational healthcare model. We foster a strong sense of community. Staff, volunteers, and patients are equally committed to love and serve one another. We are wholistic in approach and therefore create greater improvement in sustainable health for patients. Our clinic is not limited to traditional approach or systems in healthcare and authentic relationships allow accountability and empowerment that leads to better outcomes of health. Trust is established among the patients and the Refuge Clinic team and this allows patients to dig deeper in addressing physical and spiritual sicknesses. We are provided a unique opportunity to maintain a focus that it is not about insurance, but about care.
The model of healthcare as demonstrated throughout scriptures will always remain relevant no matter what circumstances, culture, or systems to which you apply it. The model works because it is Biblical. The Refuge Clinic replicates the example of Jesus to utilize health to love and care for others. Everyday people come to the clinic with physical suffering in search for hope and healing. They encounter a Savior who loves and values them and invites them to experience restoration. Relational healthcare is an investment to walk alongside of someone at their most vulnerable moment; to respond in recognition of their hurts and struggles with a commitment to walk it out together. It requires more but also produces more.
Refuge Clinic has chosen not to measure success by systems and programs, but by the individual life transformation and health we see occur in each of our patients. We have encountered a great measure of success by meeting those in need right where they are. We are an expression of Christ, and people are coming to us in recognition of their needs, and in turn, they are encountering Christ.
Since opening our doors over 7 years ago, we have taken on the care of over 3,500 patients who have found themselves on the margin, unable to receive medical, dental and optical care.
We engaged over 1,000 medical and dental volunteers last year alone to love and care for those within their own communities. We provide a unique opportunity to move people from concern to action; to invest in those who are lost and hurting and in need of receiving help, hope, and healing.
