Mission Statement Georgetown Child Development Center is a non-profit agency governed by a voluntary board of directors consisting of parents and members of the community. It was organized in 1971 to meet the needs of working parents in the community. Our purpose is to provide each child with the highest quality programming for their age and development level. We strive to provide all children with the best possible day they can have from the time they arrive until they depart.
Background Statement GCDC has been serving the working families of Georgetown since the 1970s.  We had moved from place-to-place until Holy Trinity Episcopal Church donated land for us to build a permanent building.  Nancy Phares, a founding member of GCDC, was able to secure the financing for the building to be built.  We have been located behind Holy Trinity on West Clinton Street since the building was completed in the late 1990s.
Impact Statement
In the last year, we obtained a 5 STAR rating from Kentucky ALL STARS (the highest you can obtain) for the first time ever.  We were just voted Georgetown's Best Child Care Center in the Georgetown News-Graphic. We won best float in Georgetown's Festival of the Horse Parade.
In the next year, we want to expand our Pre-K classroom so we can accept more children to be able to prepare them for kindergarten.  We want to upgrade our kitchen to enable us to prepare better/fresher meals for the children and also enable us to do more fundraising by preparing and selling (pr donating to needy families) pre-made meals.  In the next 5 years, we hope to pay off our mortgage debt so we can invest back into our programs and offer more benefits to our employees.
Needs Statement While our organization is financially stable, our building is old and is requiring many upgrades and improvements.  We have a need to update our kitchen and overhaul our HVAC system.  Our only debt is our mortgage, which we are working to pay off so we can invest back into our programming and employees.  Starting salaries are continuing to increase across all sectors and we find it difficult to compete with other private business that offer higher salaries and better benefits. We offer generous paid time off and the ability to receive various certifications and even a college degree but we do not offer health insurance or retirement benefits.
CEO/Executive Director Statement
The importance of early childhood education is undeniable.  From birth to age 5, a child’s brain develops more than at any other time in life.  GCDC is not just a daycare, we support a child's growth and development.  We track each child's progress while in our center and challenge them to learn.  We conduct periodic screenings and assessments to identify areas of need or excellence.  Through this process, we can help identify warning signs that are often not seen or understood by parents.  We partner with caregivers to ensure continuity of care.  We train our staff and keep them up-to-date on early childhood education and changes with regulations.
As more and more parents choose to work outside of the home, their is a greater need for access to affordable, quality care for children.  Scott County is continuing to grow; however, the number of quality child care centers have decreased.  We are proud to say we were recently voted Best Child Care Center in Scott County.  We work hard every day to ensure we are providing the best care possible.
