Financial Summary
Mission Statement The mission of Harvesting Hope Food Pantry is to reduce hunger in Boyle County through community cooperation, making the best possible use of all available resources.
Background Statement
Harvesting Hope Food Pantry Inc. is headquartered in Danville, Kentucky, where we were founded in July, 2010 by Dr. Bryan Wood, the President of Selfrefind (www.selfrefind.com) - a clinical organization aimed at helping patients break their addiction to opiate drugs, whether legal or illegal. Since our founding, we have grown to become one of the largest food pantries in the state of Kentucky. Our mission is to reduce the hunger in Boyle County through community cooperation making the best possible use of all available resources.
When an individual or family comes to our pantry, they are greeted by the friendly faces of our hard working volunteers. They are given a number and are then seated in our waiting area until a volunteer is available to help them shop through our grocery-like aisles of food with a grocery cart. They are given many choices on what food items they would like to take home with them - something not many pantries have the luxury to do. Once through all of the aisles, volunteers help bag the food and bring it out to their cars. Individuals who shop at our pantry say it is a pleasurable and efficient experience.
We are happy to partner with local churches, community centers, schools, organizations, and businesses to make the pantry successful and to feed as many of our neighbors as possible.
In 2011, we were blessed to be able to add a soup kitchen to our efforts. We serve a hot meal 5 days a week to anyone who is hungry and walks through our doors. We are constantly looking for new avenues through which we can meet the hunger needs of our neighbors.
Impact Statement Since our launch on July 11th, 2010, Harvesting Hope Food Pantry has impacted the lives of more than 10,000 individuals in Boyle County through partnerships with local programs and businesses including (but not limited to): God's Pantry, Food Lion, Centre College, and Jennie Rogers Elementary. We have distributed more than 60,000 pounds of food to those in need this year and are consistently feeding over 2,000 people each month with our food pantry and soup kitchen.
Needs Statement Harvesting Hope Food Pantry could not function without the overwhelming support and dedication of our donors and volunteers. For every $10 donated, we are able to distribute roughly 45 meals worth of food to Boyle County residents in need. We are definitely in need of more donors and volunteers at this time to help us continue to run smoothly and to feed as many people in our community as we can. Currently, we are also working on raising funds that will enable us to have a mobile pantry/soup kitchen so that we can reach those in need in our community and in surrounding areas that do not have transportation to reach us.

Experience Being the Executive Director for Harvesting Hope has been the most rewarding, most challenging, most exciting, and most moving experience of my life. The people I get to interact with daily humble me and remind me why I'm on this earth! I've really enjoyed being able to do the grunt work to ensure that hungry people in my community are being fed every day. I don't see myself tiring of this career anytime soon! There is always more work to be done.
