Mission Statement To provide a better life for Thoroughbreds, both during and after their racing careers, by supporting qualified repurposing and retirement organizations and by helping the people who care for them.
Background Statement

In 1990, a small group of Mid-Atlantic Thoroughbred owners banded together to promote the well being of retired racehorses. A small dinner auction, featuring art and racing memorabilia, was held in Middletown, Delaware. $15,000 was raised and donated to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation.

The event grew annually and in 1997 Thoroughbred Charities of America was created.

As a  result of the annual Stallion Season Auction, TCA has granted funds to over 200 Thoroughbred industry related non-profit organizations. The Stallion Season Auction is TCA's largest fundraiser and is made possible by the generosity of stallion owners, sponsors and other donors.

Impact Statement

Over the past 28 years, TCA has distributed over $23 million in grants to more than 200 Thoroughbred-related non-profit organizations throughout the country. We aim to raise more funding to be distributed to TCA approved charities working to uphold our mission.

Erin Crady is the executive director of Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), a non-profit organization that provides grants to charities that work to provide a better life for Thoroughbreds and the people who work with them. Since 1990, TCA has distributed over $23 million in grants to more than 200 charities in the areas of Thoroughbred rescue, retirement, retraining and adoption; backstretch and farm worker employee programs; equine research; and therapeutic riding.

Crady entered the Thoroughbred industry in 2006 as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). In 2008, TCA became the charitable arm of TOBA, and in 2009, Crady began effectively splitting her time between the two organizations. In January 2014, Crady resigned her TOBA duties and moved into a full-time role with TCA.  She is responsible for fundraising and the facilitation of grant-making activities within the organization.

Prior to her work with TOBA and TCA Crady worked as an account executive and media buyer for Group 5 Advertising in Gainesville, Florida.
