Mission Statement ServeLexInc wants to positively impact the lives of Lexington residents, and empower Lexington residents to positively impact the lives of people around the world.
Background Statement ServeLexInc began in 2015 out of a desire to impact the lives of Lexington residents, creating a better, stronger, safer, and more vibrant place to live.
Impact Statement
ServeLexInc has played a large role in the creation of the Reading Room at the Black and Williams Neighborhood Center on Georgetown Street. The goal of the Reading Room is to foster a lifelong love of reading and literature in the children who live there, and encourage them to reap the benefits that will accrue to them because of it.  We are currently seeking funding to hire a part time volunteer coordinator and attendant for the Reading Room.
Our next big project, working in conjunction with the Migrant Network Coalition and Fayette County Public Schools, is parent and caaregiver training in the Cardinal Valley area aimed at ensuring Latino children from that area are ready to enter kindergarten.  Currently, 78% of Latino children in Fayette County are unprepared for kindergarten, and it is difficult, if not impossible, for them to catch up.  We seek to turn this statistic around by training parents and caregivers in the art of early childhood education.
Needs Statement
ServeLexInc's greatest needs at this time are for funding for an attendant and volunteer coordinator at the Black and Williams Reading Room.  We need $19,700 to cover the cost for March 2016 through August 2017.
We are also seeking $35,100 to begin our pilot program for Latino early childhood education in Cardinal Valley.  The pilot program will include 30 families, some with multiple children, so the cost of this endeavor is around $1000 per child.
Geographic Areas Served
ServeLexInc primarily serves Lexington, KY, or residents of Lexington who are seeking ways to improve other places in the world.
